What is Rakeback?
Players from all over the world are starting to wake up and have started asking each other “What is Rakeback?” This short explanation will hopefully clear up any misconceptions you have and set you on course to make your game more profitable:
What is Rake?
In a cash game therake is the percentage of the pot which does not return to the winner of the hand. Instead it is claimed by the poker site as its main source of income to help pay all of its costs. Tournament and SitnGo fees also suffer from rake.
For Example:
In a cash game with 5% rake we would see a pot of $60 contribute $3 as a rake
In a SitnGo which costs $10+$1 the additional $1 would be the rake
What is Rakeback?
Rakeback is a third party loyalty program which returns a proportion of a player’s rake into their poker account. RakebackPoker.com will return 30% of your eligible rake straight into your poker account once a month.
- What is my eligible rake?
At Interpoker rake is calculated by the dealt method meaning that if a hand reaches the flop the total amount of rake is split evenly between the players that were dealt cards – not just the players in the pot. For players who play less than the average number of pots this is a great way of earning rakeback.
For example:
There are five players at a table and all are dealt cards
The hand reaches the flop and the total pot at the end of the hand is $60
If the rake is 5% then the total rake would be 5% of $60 = $3
This rake is split between the 5 players = $0.60
With a rakeback deal a player would receive 30% of this = $0.18
All players with rakeback deals whether they participated in the hand or not would have just made $0.18
